EVENTS FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED

Welcome to the Stroud Valleys Project Events Programme specifically for people with a visual impairment.  The programme is a series of guided walks with a natural history theme, and is put together with you in mind, to help you continue to visit and learn about some of the important wildlife sites around the district.

How do I get there?

We realise that transport can be a problem.  We will try to arrange car sharing where possible, so if you are planning to drive to the event with a sighted friend and have space in your car, or if you need a lift, please let us know.  For events taking place further afield we will try to provide a minibus departing from a central point.

What to wear

All the walks will be fairly gentle – but please wear stout walking shoes, and comfortable, warm and waterproof clothes.

Cost

We do not charge a set fee for these events, but will happily receive any donation you might like to make.  Donations will contribute to costs incurred in running the programme such as experts’ expenses and minibus hire.  Some places we visit will charge an entry fee, and on these occasions we will not ask for an additional donation.

Become a Friend of Stroud Valleys Project

SVP has recently set up a Friends of Stroud Valleys Project scheme.  In return for an annual donation, Friends are entitled to priority booking on events where places are limited.  You will also receive a copy of our quarterly wildlife newsletter and be acknowledged on our website.  Currently the newsletter is only available in one format, but we can offer you a text only version either on paper or by email.  The scheme is a great way for you to offer financial support to the project, at whatever level you feel you can afford.  As a charity we rely on donations from organisations and individuals for all our work.  If you are interested in becoming a Friend of Stroud Valleys Project, please contact us

Telephone: 01453 753 358

For further details of these events, or to book a place, please contact Deb at Stroud Valleys Project on 01453 753358, or by email deb@stroudvalleysprojet.org.

Stroud Valleys Project gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the Barnwood House Trust, the Dulverton Trust and the Macfarlane Walker Trust and Adult Education for its work with visually impaired people.
